I was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina just 10 minutes from where my studio is located. I am one of the rare Raleigh natives. Right after high school graduation, I went to cosmetology school. I’ve always known I wanted to do hair and one day open my own salon. I worked at a few big salons when I first started out, but I felt there was a lack of good customer service and was always pressured to push product. That wasn’t me. I am a personable person. I like to connect with my clients and watch them grow and change. I like making people feel confident and pretty. So I opened up my own studio in Cary, and then a little over two years ago, I opened Pinup Studios, located just off Six Forks Road. I started off with just my hair studio, and now I’ve expanded into another room for lashes and brows. I love what I do, and I love people! I simply treat my clients how they want to be treated.

As a Raleigh native, Raleigh is home and all of my family is here, but there are a lot of things I love about this area. One thing I love about Raleigh is the food scene. I am a huge foodie, and there are so many different types of food and events in downtown. I also love to shop. There are so many local boutiques here, and everyone here is really big on supporting local which is awesome. One of my favorite places is Dorothea Dix Park. I love to take my german shepherd over there.

If you are new to the area, one of the best ways to get connected is using the Offline App. It tells you all the events going on in and around the Triangle from free events to paid events. It is a great way to find fun things to do in the Triangle. There are also a ton of craft breweries in the area that are dog friendly and usually have a good food truck stationed outside. There are also some great concert spots with really good music.

To be successful in the Triangle from a business perspective, networking is key. There are a lot of groups on Facebook and there are tons of BNI groups. As soon as I got myself out there and began networking, that’s when I saw a big difference in my business. Social media, like Facebook and Instagram, have been a really great way to help me grow my business. I also found that if you support a local business, they’ll support you right back! You’ll find some many opportunities in this area!
