Why Raleigh?

I grew up in this beautiful state of NC but ventured north for college and eventually landed in Manhattan working as an investment banker.  I was moving up, taking on more responsibility and constantly working. I began looking around at my more senior colleagues, growing increasingly concerned I’d fall down the same path: working non-stop while losing sight of what’s important in life, quality time with loved ones and creating new experiences.

It was time to make some changes.

Tell us about Reward Stock

Always an avid traveler, and with my knowledge of the banking and investment world, I worked the system of credit card incentives to fund my passion for jet-setting to faraway lands.    It became an obsession to play these travel offers to my advantage, I decided to create a platform where the masses could learn how to leverage the system just like I did.  Combining my network, experience, and  knowledge, RewardStock was born.

After our once in a lifetime (and nearly free) honeymoon to The Maldives, my wife Alison and I decided to start a family.  We quickly determined to stay in NYC was not an option.  So moving to Raleigh was a no-brainer.

Jon’s Top Reasons to Live in the Triangle:

  • Cost of living – compared to most any mid or large city further north, the Triangle offers affordable housing coupled with a great job market.

  • Quality of life – The number of things to see and do in the area is mind-boggling.

  • Top place to raise a family – Schools are great.  Lots of diversity and family-focused entertainment and museums.

  • The ability to lead a balanced life (and travel more!)

Jon’s top 3 Triangle Restaurants

  1. Bida Manda – Downtown Raleigh – you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu

  2. Mateo – Downtown Durham – best tapas around

  3. Calavera Empanadas – Downtown Raleigh – their nachos are to die for!
